Can’t get enough of Conspiracy Theories?

§ March 23rd, 2009 § Filed under captions § Tagged , , § No Comments

talk about conspiracy!

talk about conspiracy!

I don’t know about you, but I have a bunch of friends who occasionally get a little bit too fixated in those so-called Conspiracy Theories. You know, the whole bunch where our governments are actually a dangerous cabal of schemers who spare no efforts to control our minds and soulds. Well, I don’t mean to say that’s not true but granted I’m no conspiracy theorist, myself.

I’d rather stick to facts and leave myself open to chance. Maybe it’s true, maybe it’s not. I’ve seen a lot of things in this world, and I like to think I’m wise enough to nurture flexibility in my mind. Regardless, this picture really got me wondering… are we really that sheepish, us humans?

Stop overthinking, just go online dating!

§ March 22nd, 2009 § Filed under ideas § Tagged , , , § No Comments

When it comes to online entertainment, I know for a fact that many people out there favor dating sites. And to be honest, I think that’s a good thing! I think it’s best to just go out and meet people the good old fashioned way, but all the while, I see nothing wrong with browsing along a good, reliable online dating site and get to know new human beings, possibly with the prospect of romance. And I’m telling you, there are so many people who take this the wrong way!

But all the while there are decent people out there – people like you and me using these websites, and looking for something as plain as a little chat. You know, I’ve actually met two interesting women through online dating, back when I was younger… and I must say, for me it felt as natural as getting to know someone in school or a cafe. It’s really all about the person using the communication tool, not the tool itself.

If you’ve never experimented with online dating, there’s a good chance you’ve been feeling deterred with a certain sense of prejudice. You know, some people seem to think that online dating is for losers. Personally, I think that’s a gross fault in perspective: online dating is just that: people who go online looking for romance, pretty much like they do it in the real world! We all tend to over think and complicate things rather than enjoying them for what they are… wouldn’t you agree?

Adverts by Spike Jonze: when cinema meets commercials!

§ March 20th, 2009 § Filed under Uncategorized § No Comments

Have you noticed how the line between cinema and advertisement keeps getting blurred, for good and bad? In one hand, this means more product placement and sneaky ways of mixing commercial leads with entertainment content. On the other hand, it means that nowadays some commercial spots are so engaging and interesting, they could easily pass off as cinematographic pieces, which happen to carry a sponsorship label from the supporting company. Today I’ll show you a couple of examples displaying a perfect blend between art and commerce, as represented by some visual adverts authored by the very talented Spike Jonze:

Wise travellers always get local currency: virtual or otherwise!

§ March 17th, 2009 § Filed under ideas § Tagged , , , , , , § No Comments

He who fails to prepare, prepares to fail. You wouldn’t go visit another country without getting some pocket money in local currency, would you? It might not be completely obvious, but the same principle apply to the emerging virtual worlds, where millions of online players interact in intricate and sophisticated computer-generated settings which have spawned economies of its own.

There’s something quite fascinating, about the kind of business model that’s becoming standard norm nowadays, when it comes to virtual worlds: players are usually entitled to explore such worlds for free, without any kind of limitation whatsoever: well except they won’t have much money to spend within the game, unless they spend a lot of time earning it by participating in various activities that make up the actual narrative of the games.

Generally speaking, one doesn’t really have that much chance of surviving – let along thriving within the universe of the game, unless the person has money. The same principle still applies, that we’ve grown so familiar with in the good old real world: money is power, and people lacking money get their options limited, when it comes to experiencing life in this world.

This is why people who are serious about playing online role play games usually pay to get access to a more satisfying game experience. There are online brokers specializing in items such as FFXI Gil, WoW Gold or Warhammer Online Gold, and there are legions of players willing and (oftentimes) eager to invest their real money to enhance their virtual game experience.

If you’re new to these forms of entertainment and you’re curious to experience those virtual worlds, this is an all-around good advice: you might want to get some money in the local currency, to make your journey more pleasurable!

Japanese human tetris: You just fill in the gaps!

§ March 15th, 2009 § Filed under Uncategorized § No Comments

This is the perfect entertainment for everyone who both enjoys playing tetris and making fun of japanese people. And just before you accuse me of professing ethnic slur, just watch the following video, and you’ll realize how japanese people enjoy mocking themselves more than anyone else. This is footage from some sort of crazy japanese game show where the contestants are expected to play a human variety of tetris where the punishment for failure is getting pushed into a swimming pool. While the premise sounds simple enough, most contestants don’t succed, either because they are totally inept or because they’re required to mimic the most awkward block shapes you can imagine. Some of those little guys really try doing their best tough, it’s actually kind of inspiring once you think of it.

Music to my ears: MP3 player reviews!

§ March 13th, 2009 § Filed under ideas § Tagged , , , § No Comments

when it comes to portable music, I think this is something that goes without argument: MP3 is probably the invention of the century! I mean, just think about it… back in the day, people who wanted to listen to music on the go had to carry around these huge bricks – sorry walkmans/discmans, as well as a bunch of tapes or compact disks. Right now, you can get the same function from a tiny device which can both play music and store a huge amount of records.

I really don’t suppose there are people who still need to be reminded about the advantages of MP3 players. However, more than once I have realized the usefulness of knowing how to find some good Mp3 Player Reviews. There’s just such a diverse offering of portable music players, that sometimes it can be confusing to make a good choice.

Also, many people I know will usually get different Mp3 players to suit different scenarios/locations (for example, if you usually go jogging or use your portable music player in a scenario where it’s prone to getting damaged, you might want to purchase a cheaper and ligher device for such occasions) – so that’s another situation when Mp3 Player Reviews might come in handy. Well, if you wish you know about a blog that focuses exclusively on such reviews, maybe this one will suit your taste.

Fun with a 3D projector + buildings!

§ March 10th, 2009 § Filed under movies § Tagged , , , , § No Comments

All of a sudden, I’m feeling like an old man who’s lagging behind the latest technological achievements of mankind. How come no one had told me there’s already technology that allows making such awesome three-dimensional projections? I had absolutely no idea such things was possible, so needless to say I’m extremely impressed with the possibilities displayed in the following video. If you’d never heard about this sort of thing, maybe it’s best you tape your jaw before watching this – or it might just drop off in a drooling outburst. Yup, it’s just that cool! Just watch:

Don’t get shut out, unless you really mean to!

§ March 5th, 2009 § Filed under ideas § Tagged , , § No Comments

If you enjoy having fun watching your neighborhood, here’s a good tip for you: get some classy exterior shutters and you’ll get to spy on everybody in great style, just like in the movies.

Ok, hold it right there. I was joking about the spying part, and I really don’t endorse using shutters for that kind of purpose. Although these are some mighty fine shutters, but you should limit its usage to blocking off exterior light when you’re up for some privacy.

great shutter

If you really want to get entertained with your neighbors, don’t you think it’s best to just organize some kind of party or social meeting? You can take the chance to show off your new shutters! ;-)

Fun things to do with Rhinestones!

§ March 1st, 2009 § Filed under ideas § Tagged , , , § No Comments

If you’re the kind of person who usually says he’d never buy rhinestones, maybe you just lack the imagination to think of something interesting to do with these synthetic jewels. You might argue that fake jewels are deceptive and foolish, but I might say it’s just as foolish to wear a real jewel in this day and age. I mean what’s the point of wasting away tens of thousands dollars just to show you can? This kind of reasoning looks pretty dumb to me.

On the other hand, I think rhinestones are actually an interesting decoration – and some modern manufacturers have developed certain techniques that make these gems look very much like the real thing. In some cases, it’s impossible to tell the difference by naked eye unless you’re a specialist. And – needless to say – flat back rhinestones are drastically more inexpensive than the real thing!

Since rhinestones are relatively affordable, I would say they can be used in a number of creative applications. These little beauties are great when it comes to arts and crafts, and if you put your heard into it, maybe you’ll come up with a creative and sparkling Halloween costume!

This may sound like an outrageous thought for some people, but all I can say is… too bad for them. I was just looking at this wholesale swarovski and hot fix swarovski crystal and I couldn’t help but thinking how such beautiful and inexpensive gems could be used in a wide range of applications. Does anyone out there got any other ideas?
