My little daydreams about being a professional golf player!

§ July 8th, 2009 § Filed under Uncategorized § Tagged , , , § No Comments

Have you ever played golf? I only played it once, and I should say I really enjoyed it! If it wasn’t such an expensive sport, I’d be quite glad get out on the good old green 18′s least once a week. In fact, I really wouldn’t mind joining a golf academy, and become a serious player. I’ve heard that top players usually get picked up by sponsored or even get some kind of golf employment. Yeah, I know I really may be going out on a limb here, but truth of the matter is that I really hate my job – I bet that’s something you can relate with, right – and sometimes I cannot help daydreaming about a different kind of life.

It may sound crazy that I muse about becoming a professional golf player if I’ve only played once, but well… daydreams aren’t really supposed to be awfully realistic, right? I mean, for that we already have reality. Well, for the time being, I’ll just keep watching some awesome golf videos and gold tournaments on TV, and maybe look up a cheap gold course where I can get swingin’ more often! It’s just too bad the whole golf gear is so expensive, but I’ve been saving up for a while… one of these days I’ll get my little day dream on course, or at least I’ll get myself a new hobby. Maybe this is just my midlife crisis kickin’ in, but there’s nothing wrong with it while I’m still having fun, right?

On post-it notes, literature holders, and CSC – Clip Strip Corp

§ June 22nd, 2009 § Filed under Uncategorized § No Comments

If there’s someone I really admire in this world – that’s the guy who invented the post-it notes or those literature display holders. Why? Simply because he was intelligent and bold enough to come up with a universally useful concept and turn it into something practical, brandable and … wholesomely profitable, of course! I remember reading how insanely rich the guy who invented post-its became, and from that day on, I have always mused with the idea of devising people that will make people think “how have I lived without this all these years?”

When it comes to literature holders the same principle is at stake, since it’s essentially an inexpensive utensil that can make a specific task more comfortable and easier. For example, these literature holders are great for holding papers in place as you type on the computer, or otherwise when you need to retrieve certain information from the paper while keeping your hands free. I mean, it’s something so simple and also so efficient that I find it completely mind-blowing!

I still dream of the day when I’ll get around to inventing something as useful as the post-it note or the literature holder! Somehow, I have a notion that the best ideas are always right under our nose, waiting for us to notice them! Someday, dear readers… maybe some day I’ll think of something really nice.

Best idea ever: just heat up those grills!

§ June 5th, 2009 § Filed under Uncategorized § No Comments

Today I’m happy, because I was reminded of one of the things I like best about the summer! You see, just a few hours ago I was having trouble figuring out what I wanted to cook for lunch. Not there was a shortage of ingredients in the pantry – much the other way around, but simply that I was stressed from a busy morning and I really didn’t know what I felt like having. Well thankfully, the spirit of joyful simplicity came over me, along with the best kind of idea: the simplest kind.

Simply put, I picked up assorted meats from the freezer, and I decided to put on a barbecue! It was the best idea ever, I tell you. I just to tossed together a salad as a side-dish, and It very much sufficed in getting all the family doing a good deal of finger lickin’ goodness. It’s not that I’m THAT a good cook, I’ll admit. Truth of the matter is that everyone loves a good barbecue, and people like me generally enjoy to put together a great party.

I’m so excited and full right now that I feel like indulging myself. So you just check out the cal flame outdoor kitchens appliances I’m shopping around! I dunno if it was the couple of beers I’ve had with the barbecue, but I’m really feeling like going all out and getting myself a fire magic bbq island. I mean, it’s not exactly cheap but it’s definitely affordable, and just by thinking of all the fun that’ll be awarded by that thing. Man, I really think I’ll give myself the go-ahead, on this one! I’m just calling customer support here, and nobody try to stop me.

Wanna hear a different kind of music? Try Idan Raichel!

§ June 4th, 2009 § Filed under Uncategorized § No Comments

I don’t know about you, but I enjoy listening to all kinds of music from all across the globe. It’s all a matter of feeling, and sometimes I find musics from certain regions are better in evoking certain moods. For example, when you feel a kind of longing and you miss something / someone you used to like which is now no longer available, I think you’ll probably agree this Project, known as Idan Raichel, strikes just the right chord. Just watch!

Bored pets? Here’s a good way to keep them entertained!

§ June 4th, 2009 § Filed under Uncategorized § No Comments

You know what? I’m really tired of people who keep switching perspectives at random. So one day, they’re all milk and honey concerning their pets, and the other day they’re cursing blazes at the wretched creatures. I mean, just make up your minds, already? An animal is not a stuffed toy,  so obviously it hs certain wants and needs that must be attended, otherwise disaster is likely to ensue.

Sure, we all hate when the house cat shreds furniture – but if you think about it – the little creatures also need something they can use to sharpen their claws.  You you thinkin about it, that’s pretty much the cat equivalent of watching television (those little guys sure like to keep sharp). So, rather than complaining your pet keeps tearing the furniture apart, why don’t you just think about getting some cat furniture in which they can do their own thing?

And if you really love your cat, and you have some money to spare… don’t think twice about it, go all the way and get a cat condo. Those things are amazing! I certainly wouldn’t mind being a cat, if I knew for sure my owners would get me all of these trinkets… so if you want to make sure your cat is really happy with you, maybe it’s about time you start thinking about investing some money to improve its quality of life. Otherwise just stop moaning how your cat keeps tearing your own furtiture apart, already!

If you really love your dog, take good care of it!

§ June 4th, 2009 § Filed under Uncategorized § No Comments

There’s a lot of people out there who love animals, and who have pets. That’s pretty normal, since animals can be genuine bundles of joy. However, not everyone takes care of their pets just right, either because it can be expensive or just because they’re distracted about it. For example, if you were to ask dog owners their perspective on dental care for dogs, some of them will express a puzzled look. However, making sure your pet has healthy is sometimes as simple as getting some chewable toys and biscuits, and avoiding certain foods! If you really love your dog and you want to keep it happy, make sure you do your best to preserve its health and promote a long lifespan.

Need prescription eyeglasses? Learn how to get them for a fraction of the cost!

§ June 3rd, 2009 § Filed under Uncategorized § Tagged , , , , § No Comments

Today I was looking for sunglasses online, and I realized something that may be useful to many people. Well, I personally don’t need vision aid (except when there’s too much sun, but that’s a different story; but all the while I was amazed with the prices for prescription eyeglasses on the Internet. Whenever I heard my friends who do wear glasses talk about the hundreds of dollars they had to spend on their new eyeglasses, I always thought bad eyesight was a very costly thing to suffer from.

Well, that was before the advent of online optometrists, I guess. Since generally such businesses are able to cut the middleman, they’re able to make quite decent prices, usually bellow the 100 bucks range. That’s a lot less money for just the same service! I’m talking about bifocals, tinted eyeglases, progressive reading and full prescription eyeglasses with all the bells and whistles you can think of – such as anti-reflective coating. Having realized this, I feel enticed to let everyone know about it. And while I’m still happy I have good vision… well, in my opinion, it’s a good thing to be informed of alternatives, especially when they bring about such drastic savings. If anyone out there can benefit from this information, so much for the best!

Beyond soothing: the power of Crystal Singing Bowl!

§ June 3rd, 2009 § Filed under Uncategorized § No Comments

If you’re the kind of person who’s into relaxing music and meditative states, you’re going to love this! Have you ever heard about a crystal Singing Bowl? In case you haven’t I’ve embeded a video down there with detailed explanation and demonstration. These bowls produce a soothing sound which can be used just for its musical properties, as well as meditation aid or even for spiritual healing. As you can see, the effect is quite mesmerizing; well, if you really enjoy it you can just get one for yourself; it’s actually kind of inexpensive, considering the brilliance of the sound it makes!

The Great Book of the Way to Virtue – a must read!

§ June 3rd, 2009 § Filed under Uncategorized § No Comments

Lately I’ve been reading this amazing book that I think everyone should own. It’s actually the most widely printed and translated book in the world, next to the bible. Much like the bible it proposes a spiritual approach to the material world, but unlike the bible, it’s quite succinct. I’m talking about the Tao Te Ching – or the Great Book of the Way to Virtue, a collection of 81 small texts authored by ancient Chinese prophet and philosopher Lao Tzu. I’ll show you one of my favorite texts from this book, and if that spikes your interest, feel free to check out this translation (one of my favorites), which is of course freely available online.

9

Fill your bowl to the brim
and it will spill.
Keep sharpening your knife
and it will blunt.
Chase after money and security
and your heart will never unclench.
Care about people’s approval
and you will be their prisoner.

Do your work, then step back.
The only path to serenity.

If you need debt consolidation, look for transparency first!

§ June 3rd, 2009 § Filed under Uncategorized § No Comments

I don’t know about you, but personally I always find it reassuring to see a person or a company who’s open to scrutiny. Honest and transparency are oftentimes a good indicator of reliability. You see, I’ve been looking for a good Debt Consolidation to help me figure out how to deal with some credit issues. But truth of the matter is that I’m a little cautious in using such service, since I’ve read there are many shady business out there posing as debt consolidation. Regardless, the concept of debt consolidation – at least in theory – can be positively helpful… if only it’s the real thing.

Well, after doing some research, I came across this one company that seems very confident in what they do. They’re the kind of people who actually urge users to find something wrong with their model so they can improve. Moreover, they seem to adopt quite the tongue-in-cheek attitude that actually makes me want to trust them. For example, in their website (which you can check out in the link up there) they urge consumers to help dig out bad agencies in their market, since they feel the industry is being damaged by such ill-willed operations. That’s a pretty good reasoning as far as I can see, so I was wondering if anyone reading this can provide more information about them. If so, please use the comments box – as usual!

Beyond awesome: my brand new paintball gun!

§ May 29th, 2009 § Filed under Uncategorized § No Comments

You know what’s awesome? It’s not that I’m gonna play some paintball next Sunday. That’s more or less common. It’s not the fact that I’ll probably be handin’ a platter of paint-splattered asses back to their respective, humiliated owners – that just my thing. Well, let me tell you what’s awesome: it’s the simple fact that I’ll be doing my common thing in even greater style, thanks to my new tippmann paintball guns that arrived today, just on time to help bring about a whole new level of awesome, next Sunday.

If you’re into paintball as well, just do yourself a favor and check out Ultimate paintball, which in my humble opinion is one of the best online vendors dealing in assorted devices related with this noblest sport that so seamlessly mixtures war and painting.

Are you being conned by your ISP? This will help you find out!

§ May 28th, 2009 § Filed under Uncategorized § No Comments

There’s a number of reasons why someone might want to measure their Internet speed, and contrary to popular belief, this is not just a matter of bragging or rubbing Internet egos. You see, there are a lot of ISP (internet service providers) out there that will charge people for a lot more than what they actually give. For example, a friend of mine was being charged for a 32 MB/s service and he was actually getting 2 MB/s (!!!) And if he hadn’t figured it out, there’s a good chance he would just keep getting ripped off, too! This is obviously an extreme scenario, but since most people really don’t have a sense of how fast an Internet connection is, many companies get away with such tricks, and oftentimes they will limit your broadband until you get around to noticing the discrepancy and filing a complaint.

That said… if you suspect this kind of thing might be happening with you, here’s a simple way to find out: just run this internet speed test and you’ll know for sure. Also keep in mind that it’s normal if your actual speed is a *little* lower than your service promises. For instance, if you’re subscribed to a 8 MB/s service, it’s acceptable if you’re getting just 5 or 6 MB/s actual speed. It would obviously not be acceptable if you were only getting 1 or 2 Mb/s, or course. So if you want to know just how fast you’re being served, take the test and make sure to demand your rights!

Nature is wonderful, but mosquitos? Not really!

§ May 9th, 2009 § Filed under Uncategorized § No Comments

Do you know what’s one of the most entertaining things I can think of, this time of the year – as the sun starts getting warmer and more inviting? Well, I really like packing up lunch or go get some take away, and just head out for a picnic. Nature sure is a wonderful thing, just as long as you figure out how to avoid some technicalities which can get quite aggravating.

Let’s take mosquitoes for example: to be honest – right now I’m happy to realize it’s the beggining of mosquitoes season. You know why? Those little buggers are a sure shot indicator that summer time is around the corner. All the while, I have no plans of being mosquito fodder, so I’ve been looking around fo an effective mosquito trap. I sure hope that thing works, because mosquito bites is probably the single important thing I dislike about going outdoors.

One of these days, I’m gonna become a farmer!

§ April 30th, 2009 § Filed under Uncategorized § No Comments

Back when I was younger, I used to play a computer game that was quite unique. I think it was called “Harvest Moon”, and it was basically a farm simulator. It might not sound like there’s so much fun involved in such concept, but the purpose of the game was to keep track of the usual day-to-day farm activities: milking cows, chopping wood, planting vegetables…. and boy, did I enjoy doing that. I remember playing this game and dreaming how nice it would be to own a real farm and live that simple kind of life – no stress, no worries, just nature and good old manual labor. Can you imagine how thrilling it would be to have your own sun orchard and just go out in the morning and pick up fresh fruit for breakfast?

Well, obviously I no longer entertain dreams of actually owning a farm – especially because I recognize there’s a good chance I couldn’t handle all the hard work. But still, the thought of getting freshly picked fruit still sounds quite interesting; with that in mind I’ve been looking around for a good sun orchard that will make deliveries in the city. Well, but I guess these kind of dealers only sell in bulk, so I have slim chance of getting into business with one of those. Regardless, I was thinking it might be nice to make a little field trip one of these weekends and go find out. Has anyone ever been to an actual real-life orchard, lately?

So, what have you been doing since high school?

§ April 24th, 2009 § Filed under Uncategorized § No Comments

Now there’s a tricky question, one that will get many people a little ashamed – or at very least wondering, and it’s also the main question people seem to be interested in when it comes to high school reunions. What have you been doing since highschool? Myself, for the most part I’ve been trying to come back. This is something most teenagers don’t realize, but highschool is quite possibly the most easy going and pleasant period in life. Well, ever since I outgrew that stage in life, I’ve actually been trying to figure out my place in life, going around a bunch of odd jobs and trying to write the great American novel. Yeah, I’m pretty much a procrastinator, but what can I say? I like it that way, and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Discount perfume, a pleasant way to activate your sense of smell!

§ April 24th, 2009 § Filed under Uncategorized § No Comments

Of all the human senses, olfact is arguably the most interesting.. and simultaneously the most overrated. There’s so much we can learn about the world around us just by paying attention to the scents and aromas, yet this is something we sometimes fail to notice. Just think about it… have you ever found yourself in deep reminiscence induced by a nice smell? Have you ever felt warm and fuzzy inside just by thinking about a pleasant perfume? I know I have, and this is why I decided to tell you about this website specializing in
Discount Perfumes. Some people seem to think “discount” is the same thing as “cheap”, but I think that’s outright wrong. If you’re not sure, just follow your nose and you’ll know what I’m talking about!

Have you noticed there’s really so much to be thankful for?

§ April 24th, 2009 § Filed under Uncategorized § No Comments

I cannot help but wonder, how the most fortunate among us are oftentimes those who barely notice. Here we are in a constant frenzy looking for someting to keep up entertained and taking our minds off the real world, when as a matter of fact there’s so much we ought to be thankful for! Say for example, the simple fact that we don’t need mobility scooters to get around! Whenever my mind strays into negative patterns, I always go for a walk while focusing this thought: some day I will get old and crippled (unless I die first, of course), and in the meanwhile, there’s much to be thankful for! Such as the simple fact that I can actually go for a walk to take my mind off things.

Adverts by Spike Jonze: when cinema meets commercials!

§ March 20th, 2009 § Filed under Uncategorized § No Comments

Have you noticed how the line between cinema and advertisement keeps getting blurred, for good and bad? In one hand, this means more product placement and sneaky ways of mixing commercial leads with entertainment content. On the other hand, it means that nowadays some commercial spots are so engaging and interesting, they could easily pass off as cinematographic pieces, which happen to carry a sponsorship label from the supporting company. Today I’ll show you a couple of examples displaying a perfect blend between art and commerce, as represented by some visual adverts authored by the very talented Spike Jonze:

Japanese human tetris: You just fill in the gaps!

§ March 15th, 2009 § Filed under Uncategorized § No Comments

This is the perfect entertainment for everyone who both enjoys playing tetris and making fun of japanese people. And just before you accuse me of professing ethnic slur, just watch the following video, and you’ll realize how japanese people enjoy mocking themselves more than anyone else. This is footage from some sort of crazy japanese game show where the contestants are expected to play a human variety of tetris where the punishment for failure is getting pushed into a swimming pool. While the premise sounds simple enough, most contestants don’t succed, either because they are totally inept or because they’re required to mimic the most awkward block shapes you can imagine. Some of those little guys really try doing their best tough, it’s actually kind of inspiring once you think of it.

Bingo for beans? That’s kid’s stuff! Here’s the real deal.

So you’re one of those sad, disgruntled people who think Bingo is a game for old people sitting around in boring clubs wasting away what little time they have left? Well, shame on you! I’m actually a great Bingo fan, and I’ve had loads of fun playing this game… and occasionally I’ve even made some solid bucks! So in case you haven’t figured it out, I don’t think it’s a boring game… much the other way around. Lately I’ve actually been getting into Mobile Phone Bingo, which is pretty much a mobile variation of this world-famous game of chance.

If you’ve never heard about Mobile Bingo, this might be a good chance to get rid of your ready-made ideas and try having some fun for a change! I found this page where you can learn about mobile bingo, and also download the game free of charge! Not only that, you also get a $5 bonus to get you started on the thrilling and addictive hobby… after all, playing for beans is kid’s stuff, right?

That dog really could get into acting, I mean with that serious expression he’s got going there; wouldn’t you agree?
